Robert Scherer is a Managing Director for Platform’s Natural Resources group, specializing in strategic account management, complex insurance program design, and client service for large and mid-sized energy companies. He also supports team growth through recruitment, development, and mentorship. Since beginning his career in 2005, Robert has built deep expertise across the energy sector, working with organizations spanning oilfield services, exploration and production, midstream, downstream/refining, and energy transition. He is recognized for developing innovative risk transfer solutions and designing global insurance programs for multinational clients. His expertise includes captives, mutual insurance structures, global placements, and alternative risk financing, with a strong interest in ESG and emerging industry trends.

She developed her expertise as a dedicated insurance broker across a wide range of energy clients at a global brokerage. She has since built a niche in balancing both client advisory and placement services for Canadian companies with far-reaching operations. Jocelyn continues to support clients with operations in the oil sands and excels at building tailored insurance solutions for organizations with complex and unique risks.

Steven Lowe

Managing Director, Natural Resources

With over 50 years of experience as an insurance broker, Steven is a veteran of the insurance brokerage industry. His career spans England, Edmonton, and Calgary. Throughout his time in Canada, Steven has worked with many of the largest energy companies, designing complex risk transfer programs for operational property and casualty insurance, as well as major construction projects. He has also been involved in the development and implementation of captive insurance structures for energy organizations. Steven has built strong domestic and international relationships within the global insurance and reinsurance markets and is considered a mentor within the Platform Natural Resources group. He provides strategic leadership and guidance on placement design for clients and has held senior leadership roles as both National and Calgary-based Head of Energy Practices at a multinational brokerage.
