Experienced energy sector executive joins Platform to accelerate growth and strengthen industry leadership across Canada’s natural resources sector
Platform Insurance Management Inc. (“Platform”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Munir Patel as Managing Director, Head of Natural Resources. Based in Calgary, Patel will lead the continued growth and strategic development of Platform’s Natural Resources practice, supporting clients across the traditional and emerging energy, mining and utilities sectors.
Patel joins Platform following nearly a decade with Deloitte, where he served as a Partner and led energy, resources and industrial client engagements across Canada. Prior to Deloitte, he held several senior leadership positions with Suncor, with responsibilities spanning operations, enterprise risk, internal audit, commercial leadership, and major growth initiatives. Throughout his career, he has built deep relationships across Canada’s energy sector and developed a reputation for bringing together people, ideas, and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.

Platform’s Natural Resources practice serves clients across the energy, mining and utilities sectors, delivering specialized insurance, risk management, claims advocacy, and advisory solutions. The practice supports organizations throughout the full lifecycle of their operations, from exploration and development through construction, production, transportation, and decommissioning.
In his new role, Patel will focus on accelerating the growth of the Natural Resources platform, strengthening client relationships, enhancing Platform’s industry presence, and supporting the talented team of advisors serving clients nationwide. His extensive sector experience complements the deep insurance expertise already within the organization, creating a powerful combination of industry insight and risk advisory capability.
